Free Diet Plans

The weight loss industry is a huge multi-billion dollar industry. Every week a new celebrity or talk show endorsed weight loss program pops up and it quickly becomes the top diet plan only to be replaced next week by the next big thing. Some people spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year on weight loss books, monthly diet programs, prepackaged meals and supplements, and personal coaching and training. For some people this works well for them. Others don't have the money or don't want to spend the money on all those products and with the web at their disposal they don't have to.

Free diet plans can easily be found on the web. But unlike most commercial weight loss plans that have been edited, tested, and refined free diet plans may not have gone through the same scrutiny. Anyone can put up a free diet plan and the web and claim they are an authority. Therefore, before deciding to follow a free diet plan it is important to closely examine the plan. Here are some things to look for before deciding if a free diet plan is right for you:

Does the weight loss program give clear precise goals? Is it a low calorie diet? Are you suppose to count calories or count meal portions or follow a meal plan? These may be broad or exact but the diet plan should give logical reasons for its choice.

Is the free diet plan nutritional? Weight loss is great but not at the expense of your health. Make sure the free diet plan follows the guidelines of basic nutrition.

Does the free diet plan answer all of your questions? If you wonder about any part of the weight loss plan will the author of the program answer your questions? Make sure the diet plan explains itself enough so that there are no questions left unanswered. You want a well thought out diet plan.

Is the author an established authority figure? Is he or she a nutritionist or dietician? A member of a well-established organization or company? Does the author have any credentials, degrees, or certificates? Learn all you can about the author before deciding on his or her free diet plan.

Finally, if the free diet plan satisfies all of these criteria, will the weight loss plan work for you? Would you rather follow a low fat diet plan or a low carb diet plan? Is this a themed program such as a Mediterranean diet? If so, do you like Mediterranean food?

The bottom line is to make sure that the free diet plan you are looking at is not some quick hack but a sound reasonable plan. Make no doubt about there are plenty of great free diet plans out there but there are also plenty of diet plans that are duds. Do your research and you will be rewarded when that free diet plan you chose helps you reach your weight loss goals.
